Restaurant Week favorites: Aozora, Gencarelli, Table 8
Appetizer: Aozora's triple sample- wonderful variety, flavor and
presentation
Entree; Chicken Giambota at Gencarelli's -the smell alone had me salivating
before I ever used the fork
Dessert: Home made ice cream at Table 8 - as good vanilla and peanut butter
as I've ever tasted any where
Bargain of the week: Aozora - incredible meal for $31.

Restaurant Week favorite: Halcyon
Halcyon was the last of four restaurants we tried. They stated that each
restaurant could do this the way they wanted, so they were offering $31
dinner only Tu - Th - and were surprised when we mentioned what a faux pas
that was on their part since it was not mentioned anywhere in the promo for
Restaurant Week. Their listing says Tues - Sat - that must mean hours of
operation, not the days the specials are being offered.

Restaurant Week favorites: Blu and Sakura Japanese
Comments: Blu had the best Veal Shank I've ever had! The presentation was
beautiful - the portion was perfect since it is such a rich dish. But I also
have to give kudos to Sakura Japanese Restaurant. Their RW menu was
wonderful - especially the the Lobster bisque soup, the Salmon tartar. Again
presentation was beautiful along with the wonderful service!

Restaurant Week favorites: Aozora, Gencarelli, Table 8/Halcyon
Comments: I chose a few new restaurants to sample:
Table 8 was so delicious, that we went 'twice'! Not only was the service
outstanding, but the value/quality of the restaurant week $31 meal was more than
expected. Even though my aunt ordered off of the regular menu, she ate most of
my panna cotta-(which was to die for!) Charming owner Demetri came by the table,
made my Aunt Gerry feel like a queen and that's the icing on the cake for me!
Loved the lighting, one always looks flawless in those lights.
Halcyon: My 1st time at Halcyon for a meal, and I wasn't disappointed. I was
already to eat some of their fabulous seafood, but weakened for an old favorite:
Prime Rib. (OMG!) It was mouth-watering and as good as any NY restaurant plus
the accompaniment of potatoes that I asked to be replaced by the vegetable du
jour, was perhaps the best potato side dish ever! Don't ask me the name, I just
know it had cheese-(neither duchess nor hash browns), just unbelievably
wonderful. After tasting them, I decided to throw 'caution to the wind' and just
'enjoy the calories'! Sharon came over to the table, and as always 'makes us
feel at home'. I was laughing so hard with my friend, that I never noticed the
din? How refreshing to have a waiter who was both smart and professional, a rare
find at times....! (Mart P)
My experience was so pleasurable that I can't wait to dine at either restaurant
soooooon. Even without a special date for Valentine's Day, I would be open to
dine out and celebrate my single life on Valentine's Day or, any day!
I love to eat & look forward to next year's kickoff 'Restaurant Week's' party
too.

Amazing food and very good service. This restaurant compares very
favorably with the best restaurants in the metro area

Restaurant Week favorites: Next Door
We asked for a dessert that was off of the $21 menu--poached pear w/gorgonzola.
It was delicious! The gorgonzola wasn't just the regular bits thrown on top of
the pears at other restaurants, but was more of a small flan accompaniment.
Moreover, because our change in request was only slightly different from the $21
menu--cheese instead of ice cream--we were only charged an additional $3. Great
value for such a delicious dessert.
